LA PAZ is a Portuguese clothing label inspired by the Atlantic, its people and its traditions. The brand works directly with some of the best local Portuguese manufacturers, combining their craftsmanship with a clear design approach – for timeless clothing that lasts.

PAZ means peace in Portuguese – and that idea has been at the heart of LA PAZ from day one. It shapes the relationships with the crew, with partners, with customers and not least with the planet, which the brand wants to pass on to coming generations in the best possible shape.

Philosophy & values

Who is LA PAZ

LA PAZ is a Portuguese brand founded in Porto in 2011 by André Bastos Teixeira and José Miguel de Abreu. Driven by a dedicated team and supported by many customers and partners, LA PAZ has managed to navigate challenging times – and to keep growing along the way. Today the brand is present in more than 90 cities, 17 countries and on 6 continents.

The story of LA PAZ

Right at the start of building the brand, LA PAZ did a lot of research and came across fascinating garments closely tied to particular regions of Portugal – the Nazaré shirts, the “Capote” from the Alentejo, or wool jumpers and socks from the Serra da Estrela (all regions in Portugal). Some of them had striking designs made with old-fashioned materials – and the other way round. That sparked the idea of breathing new life into these traditional pieces.

At the same time, LA PAZ visited old factories and archives where real treasures lay hidden. Step by step, a deeper understanding of what local production is capable of opened up – and that is exactly where the project began.

What LA PAZ stands for

Sustainability has become a global topic, but for LA PAZ it goes far beyond production and consumption habits. The brand sees it as something that should simply be part of the way we live.

Over the past years LA PAZ has worked hard on developing and using new organic and recycled materials, which are now a fixed part of the collections. LA PAZ believes that together with conscious consumers, new ways can be found to handle fashion more responsibly – from making it to distributing and selling it. It is not about perfection, but about small, simple steps that make a difference when they are taken with care and clarity.
